Hello! My name is Nat Kelley DiMario, and I'm a queer & trans theatre artist, AEA stage manager, and storyteller based in Brooklyn. I'm inspired by work that challenges conventional storytelling norms, including dance, puppetry, shadow play, devised, and immersive theatre. I was a production assistant on the 2022 Broadway production of Into the Woods, and the Production Stage Manager for Dance Nation at my alma mater, Fordham University, where I served as mentor to undergraduate stage management students. In 2023, I helped bring to life Lewberger and the Wizard of Friendship at Theatre Row: a sold-out four week engagement starring improvised musical comedy trio Lewberger. I spent 2024 making an abundance of trans theatre: The Christine Jorgensen Show (winter 2024 at 59E59, and Off-Broadway at HERE Arts Center, fall 2024), Orlando (Signature Theatre), and Isabel (National Asian American Theatre Company), as well as The Marriage of Figaro (Little Island, starring Anthony Roth Costanzo).
I am committed to engaging with theatre that is created by and for the trans community. As an artist, my passion lies in telling queer stories with gender expansive themes and casting, something that permeates every facet of my work. My regional LORT debut was Sense and Sensibility by Kate Hammill at Northern Stage in White River Junction, Vermont. This production had the largest amount of trans or nonbinary-identifying artists across cast, designers, and production staff of any show I've done that does not strictly center trans characters, which is to say — we are everywhere. I also had the privilege of participating in the 2022 inaugural Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival on Mara Vélez Meléndez's Thelma and Louise and the Time Machine, as well as National Queer Theatre's Jubilee for a New Vision in 2021.
In my first year back in NYC post-Covid, I ASM'd productions in drama, opera, and dance at The Juilliard School, and I'm currently a stage manager for the Recital Operations Office. I have also worked in concert stage management with Juilliard, Little Orchestra Society, and Orchestra of St. Luke's. In summer 2021, I was a forerunner in the Covid Safety field, working with Magis Theatre Company, Classical Theatre of Harlem, and Law & Order SVU.
During the pandemic, I was a stage manager for Ken Davenport's TheaterMaker's Summit in 2020, as well as a number of virtual readings hosted by TMS. I also stage managed Journey Around My Bedroom, an interactive Zoom toy theatre piece as part of New Ohio's Theatre for Young Minds program. Following a successful industry pivot, I served as a consultant and advisor for a number of other companies producing virtual theatre.
In addition to my freelance stage management career, I am the Production Manager for The Sound Museum, an audio fiction podcast which is available now on the Faustian Nonsense network. I also make my voice acting debut as Sloan, the museum curator. You can listen and learn more here!
I hold a BA in Theatre Design and Production from Fordham University and am an alum of the Juilliard Professional Apprentice Program.
When not in rehearsal, running a tech, or calling a show, I can usually be found watching Star Trek, playing D&D, and cosplaying.
